Bridging the Communications Gap for Immigrants and Refugees in Minnesota

Multilingual Materials for National Immunization Awareness Month

August is National Immunization Awareness Month, and as families travel overseas during the summer and children return to school, understanding the measles vaccine and other immunizations is vital for the health of our communities.

To provide information and resources on the measles disease and vaccine, ECHO collaborated with the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) to create a video PSA and Expert/Parent Interview in English, Oromo, Amharic, and Somali.Request DVDs by emailing margaret.kenyon-schultz@state.mn.us.

ECHO also has a program that explains the necessity of vaccines in general, how they work, and where they are available. "Understanding Vaccines" can be viewed in seven languages, online here.
