ECHO Health Alert This is a test of Emergency and Community Health Outreach (ECHO) and its emergency-message distribution system. You’re receiving this message because you signed up to be an alerter; if this were a real emergency, we’d work with you to distribute this message and its translations to Limited English Proficiency (LEP) communities. As part of this exercise, please consider the following public service announcement concerning traffic in the Twin Cities area:
in Somali Beginning Friday evening August 29th through early Saturday, September 6th traffic around the Xcel Energy Center will be rerouted for the Republic National Convention (RNC). Vehicles and bikes will not be allowed in the area immediately surrounding Xcel Energy Center. The city and police department are providing information on alternative routes and transportation to help residents and employees who live or work downtown move in an out of the area during the convention. Most major access roads to Saint Paul – including Interstates 94 and 35E, Wabasha and Robert streets, and Shepard Road – will remain open and detour routes will be well-marked to help move traffic throughout the area. Drivers and bus riders are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra time for travel. For latest traffic and bus routing information during the convention please visit www.stpaul.gov, or call 651-266-8989. This message brought to you in multiple languages by the City of St. Paul and ECHO (Emergency and Community Health Outreach / www.echominnesota.org). This concludes this exercise.
Why we test:
There are several steps that go on behind the scenes in the event of an emergency. This exercise allows ECHO to work with translators, emergency personnel and others to practice distributing information to LEP audiences.
Why your response is important:
The results of this exercise help us improve our emergency-message distribution system. Please let us know you got this message: info@echominnesota.org.
