Thank you for the critical resources you provide through ECHO!!!!
ED, Northwest Hennepin Human Services Council
“These DVDs are great for our English language learners.”
A nurse approached me yesterday said, “What would we do without ECHO?”. I agreed wholeheartedly – I use my ECHO tuberculosis tape with almost every LTBI (Latent Tuberculosis Infection) case opening.
Public Health Nurse
Thanks you so much for your generosity and providing us with these informational DVDs. We are sure the Hmong community here will greatly appreciate it.
HHAP Project Team, WI
Recently there was an ECHO program on colon cancer. Somali people do not know much about this condition. This program educated us on the importance of screening, following up with the doctors, etc.
We're showing ECHO in our waiting room at the food shelf. Thanks for your awesome work!
Food Shelf Supervisor
“Without ECHO Minnesota’s quick ability to translate and disseminate our messages on this topic, we would not have been able to share this information with those key audiences as quickly or effectively as we did."
Commissioner, Minnesota Department of Agriculture
We use these DVDs extensively with the Somali community in Victoria to disseminate information about mental health and also reduce stigma associated with mental health issues. The Somali community enjoyed the Egal Shidad story and thank you for it.
Community Development Worker
“I believe that each member of our community has the moral responsibility to help those less
fortunate, in this particular case folks that do not speak the English language. There is no greater reward in life then to utilize your skills and talents on behalf of human kind.”
I just wanted to let you that I recieved the DVD that you had sent and thank you so much for doing that. It was very helpful and I did share with my colleagues that speak, Somali, Vietnamese and Spanish.
Case Worker/Cultural Mediator, Community House Calls
Thanks for creating a good resource to help all the diverse communities.
Community Health Worker
"Many students told me today that they watched the [Breast Cancer: Detection, Prevention, and Treatment] DVD the night before class with their families. We discussed how we are now ambassadors to our communities and need to share what we have learned. The entire class was
grateful for the information."
Teacher, Minnesota Literacy Council
We could save thousands of lives every year if everyone over 50 was screened. That is why it is so important that our communities learn more about colon and rectal cancer. One of our priorities is to raise awareness about cancer prevention among our new immigrant and medically underserved populations, who lack easy access to health information in their native languages. ECHO fills that void in Minnesota, and we are thrilled to partner with them in this unique venture.
Health Disparities Manager, American Cancer Society
“Public Health’s job would be much more difficult without ECHO presentations! I cannot thank you enough for the services you provide."
Karen Ampe, PHN
Kandiyohi County Public Health
Both the Vietnamese and Karen DVDs are very helpful to the communities because they can understand the health issues within their own languages.
Vietnamese Social Services of MN
“I give the Lead DVD (Lead Free Home Equals Lead Free Kids) to each family that I visit. I cannot tell you how helpful important I think it is. Thanks again and we really appreciate the messages you are getting out there!!!”
Stephanie Hartman, PHN, MSN
Saint Paul - Ramsey County Department of Public Health
These are great videos and we have starting showing them to our Somali and Hispanic population. They are a great resource, especially with the language barrier.
“I just want to thank YOU. I was very impressed with the process you and your organization
used to put the materials together.”
Director for Ending Long-Term Homelessness
“ECHO played a key role in educating Minnesota’s diverse communities about the first-ever nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS). Ensuring that the public understood the importance of the test and did not become alarmed required a major public awareness campaign. ECHO and the Minnesota Broadcasters Association collaborated to produce a series of radio and TV Public Service Announcements (PSAs) in a variety of languages. As a result, Minnesotan’s were well informed and well prepared on test day.”
President and CEO of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association
Our Public Health staff is currently using the ECHO Obesity tapes to help create awareness of the issue!
Public Health Preparedness Coordinator, Sherburne County Health & Human Services
One of our Public Health Nurses (PHN) used the [Obesity and Your Health] DVD during a home visit. The client commented that the DVD was "very practical" and that it had "good ideas." The PHN was extremely pleased that this resource was available to share with her clients.
